PTRS, explained for portfolio decisions

PTRS - probability of technical and regulatory success - is an estimate of the likelihood that an asset clears the remaining technical and regulatory hurdles to reach approval. It is the single number that most directly shapes risk-adjusted value and go/no-go calls at each phase gate.

Why one number is never enough

PTRS answers “can it succeed technically and pass regulatory review?” - but a molecule can be technically sound and still be a poor portfolio decision. That is why PortiVix separates PTRS from other risk lenses:

Reviewing PTRS, the other risk scores, and eNPV together - with commentary and go/kill evidence attached - is what makes a phase-gate decision defensible.

Keep PTRS honest: it should move as evidence changes, and every change should leave a record. A number that never updates is not a risk score - it is a guess with a decimal point.
